Using stories of injustice that resonate within me as a source of representation for art work that I create.
I can relate this experience to my own, in that, I know what it is like to be separated from your child by the will of others, to be stripped of independence, how this can rob you of dignity and how that stories such as these can echo within you even when it is different to your experience. No matter how removed from that experience of your own may be, it makes you stop, and think for a moment about the injustice and reflect on your own experiences.
It is not just that my work is just autobiographical, and some of it fun too, it’s just that some of my work represents my own experience of loss and suffering. I think I have become more empathetic of suffering as a whole. The injustice of suffering can be represented through a visual medium. Representing the suffering or plight of women for example by using a female aesthetic and mediums that reflect femininity .
